Features of GXP Revetment Method
INWOO GXP Revetment Type Mat is made from natural materials such as natural fiber, rice straw, and coir-net, etc., for planting environment and features three-dimensional multi-layered mesh network for disaster prevention functions. This multi-layered structure is fitted with X-shaped fixing members for ecological restoration through planting, and at the same time, maximize shear stress for disaster prevention. This method can be applied to regions with far higher flow velocity or higher tractive force(curvature channel), unlike conventional vegetation mat methods.
Eco-friendliness
We used natural materials using bamboo as a fixing member, as well as mats such as natural fibers, rice straw, coir-net, etc. These natural materials have excellent moisture retention capability and are eco-friendly materials that return to the nature after a certain period of time(2 to 3 years) after they serve as manure to grow plants.
Capability of early greening and designing as desired
- Plants cultivated in the farms can be transplanted in pots, which can result in excellent early greening.
- Using natural fibers, plants which were potted directly will form a community after a certain period of time(about 2 to 3 months) and make it difficult for other plants to grow. As a result, only desired plants can be grown.
- Plants suited to site conditions can be used, and unique and diverse design such as local government logos, etc., can be presented by using the plants.
Disaster prevention capability
- GXP Revetment Vegetation Mat method involves the process of firstly laying natural mat(natural fiber, rice straw, coir-net), secondly covering pentangular mesh network with very strong tensile strength and fitting the mat with X-shaped fixing pins, and thirdly planting the vegetation(domestic wild species) with developed roots to increase the bonding with embankment slope, withstanding the flow velocity of up to 5m/sec before rooting and up to 8m/sec after rooting, unlike conventional mats which can withstand flow velocity of up to 2.5 to 3m/sec.
Economic efficiency
- This mat seems somewhat expensive compared to conventional mats, but applies a remarkably cost-effective process comparable to revetment methods(block using concrete stone; piling using stones, etc) which withstand same flow velocity and provide same disaster prevention capability.
- Maintenance can be done very easily because it can be repaired like piecing together.
- As only the desired plants grow, maintenance costs, such as weed removal costs, do not occur.
- In addition, it has the advantage of good workability and economic efficiency because plants cultivated in tripod as small as 1"(32.9 * 34m/m) are used(existing pot size: as large as 90m/m, 120m/m, 130m/m, 140m/m, 150m/m, 160m/m, etc).
